How to prepare a useful ingredient inquiry

A practical checklist to help describe your product, specification and purchasing requirements.

Start with the ingredient and form

Name the ingredient you need and describe the required form. If you have a reference product, include its specification rather than relying only on a trade name.

Make specifications easy to compare

Include the parameters that matter to your application, together with units, limits and test methods where known. Attach the current specification document so it can be reviewed in context.

Add quantity, packaging and destination

State the inquiry quantity and unit, preferred packaging, destination and timing. Separate a trial quantity from an expected recurring requirement when relevant.

Explain the documents you need

List the requested specification sheet, sample COA and other relevant documents. Ask which details are product specifications and which are results for an individual batch.

Start with your specification.

Tell us the ingredient, quantity and destination you have in mind.
